How to Use
How to Use
With clean hands, remove one suppository from the wrapper and gently insert it into the vagina as far as is comfortable. If the suppository has softened, place it in the refrigerator until it firms before use.
This may be done while lying on your back with knees bent.
Once inserted, the suppository will melt with body temperature. For best results, insert before bedtime and remain lying down for a short period to help minimize leakage.
Some discharge or leakage is normal and expected; use of a panty liner may be helpful. Use one suppository every 2–3 nights, or as needed. Do not use more than one suppository at a time.
For vaginal use only. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Q&A
Why does vaginal dryness happen during menopause?
Estrogen plays an important role in maintaining the thickness, elasticity, and natural lubrication of vaginal tissue. As estrogen levels decline or fluctuate during perimenopause and menopause, vaginal tissues may become:
- Thinner
- Less elastic
- Drier
- More sensitive
These changes are often part of a broader condition known as genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Symptoms can include vaginal dryness, discomfort during intimacy, irritation, and increased sensitivity.
Unlike the vulva, which is external skin, the vagina is an internal canal that maintains its own pH and microbial balance. However, hormonal changes can reduce natural moisture within the vaginal walls. This is where internal moisturizers, such as vaginal suppositories, may offer support.
What is a vaginal suppository?
A vaginal suppository is a small, solid insert designed to dissolve inside the vagina. Once inserted, it melts or dissolves, delivering moisturizing or soothing ingredients directly to the vaginal tissue.
Unlike lubricants, which are typically used during intimacy, a vaginal suppository is intended to provide longer-lasting hydration to vaginal tissue. Some suppositories are medication-based (such as prescription vaginal estrogen), while others are non-hormonal moisturizers designed to support comfort.
How does hyaluronic acid work in a vaginal suppository?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps retain moisture in skin and connective tissue.
In vaginal health products, hyaluronic acid works by:
- Attracting and retaining water
- Supporting tissue hydration
- Improving elasticity
- Reducing dryness-related discomfort
Because it is non-hormonal, hyaluronic acid can be an option for women who prefer to avoid estrogen-based treatments or who are not candidates for hormone therapy. When formulated as a vaginal suppository, hyaluronic acid is delivered directly to internal vaginal tissue, allowing for localized moisture support.
Is a vaginal suppository safe?
When properly formulated and used as directed, a vaginal suppository can be safe during menopause.
Here’s what makes one safer:
- Free from fragrance
- Free from harsh preservatives
- Designed specifically for vaginal use
- pH-balanced
- Non-hormonal (if estrogen is not desired)
It’s important to distinguish between internal moisturizers and products that claim to “cleanse” the vagina. The vagina is self-cleaning and does not require internal washing. A vaginal suppository should support moisture, not disrupt the natural microbiome.
If you experience burning, unusual discharge, or a strong odor, consult a healthcare provider rather than self-treating.
What is the difference between a vaginal suppository and a vulva moisturizer?
It’s common to confuse internal dryness with external irritation. A vaginal suppository treats internal vaginal dryness. A vulva moisturizer treats dryness or irritation of the external vulvar skin.
Some women benefit from using both, addressing internal moisture and external comfort separately. Because the vagina is internal tissue and the vulva is external skin, each requires a different type of support.
Who might benefit from a vaginal suppository?
Women who are experiencing persistent vaginal dryness, discomfort during intimacy, a feeling of internal tightness, or hormone-related tissue thinning may benefit from additional internal moisture support.
If these symptoms feel familiar, it may be helpful to speak with a healthcare provider about whether a non-hormonal vaginal suppository is appropriate. For women who cannot or choose not to use vaginal estrogen therapy, a hyaluronic acid vaginal suppository can offer localized hydration without hormones.
What about vaginal estrogen?
Prescription vaginal estrogen is often recommended for moderate to severe symptoms of menopause. Unlike a non-hormonal vaginal suppository, vaginal estrogen works by restoring estrogen directly to the tissue, helping reverse thinning and dryness at a cellular level.
Non-hormonal suppositories do not replace estrogen therapy. Instead, they help support hydration and comfort. In some cases, women use both under medical guidance.
Does a vaginal suppository affect odor?
A healthy vagina maintains its own natural scent. It does not require fragrance or deodorizing products. If you notice a strong, fishy, or unusual odor, it may indicate infection and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.
A properly formulated vaginal suppository should not disrupt the natural microbiome or create odor. The vagina regulates itself naturally, and any mild scent typically comes from the external vulvar skin rather than the internal vaginal canal.
How often should a vaginal suppository be used?
Frequency depends on the specific product and individual needs. Some women experience noticeable dryness daily, while others may only need support a few times per week.
Many non-hormonal vaginal suppositories are used several times per week initially to help restore moisture, then reduced to maintenance use once comfort improves. Because vaginal tissue responds gradually to hydration support, consistency is often more important than occasional use.
Always follow the product instructions and consult a healthcare provider if you’re unsure about frequency, especially if symptoms persist or worsen.
Why choose VMAGIC vaginal suppository?
For women seeking a non-hormonal approach to internal vaginal dryness, Medicine Mama’s hyaluronic acid vaginal suppository is formulated to support hydration without fragrance or harsh additives.
Designed specifically for vaginal use, it works internally to help retain moisture and improve comfort during menopause-related dryness. It does not cleanse or alter the vagina’s natural balance, but instead supports hydration in a way that aligns with the body’s natural function.
When should you see a healthcare provider?
While vaginal dryness is common during menopause, seek medical guidance if you experience:
- Bleeding not related to menstruation
- Severe pain
- Persistent burning
- Strong or unusual odor
- Discharge changes
Moisturizers can support comfort, but they do not replace medical evaluation when needed.
How does VMAGIC® Vaginal Suppository work?
VMAGIC® Vaginal Suppository is designed to provide moisture and comfort to the vaginal area using hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring ingredient known for its ability to hold water. Each suppository contains 5 mg of hyaluronic acid to help maintain moisture where dryness can occur.
Hyaluronic acid helps attract and retain moisture on the surface of the vaginal area, supporting a more comfortable, hydrated feel. It’s paired with naturally derived glycerides that help soften and condition sensitive skin for added comfort.
Together, these ingredients are designed to support everyday vaginal comfort and help ease dryness-related discomfort.
How often should I use the vaginal moisturizer suppository?
Use one suppository every 3 nights, or as needed, to help maintain moisture and comfort.
How fast can I expect to see results?
Some women notice added moisture and comfort soon after the first use. With regular use, comfort and hydration may continue to improve over time. Individual experiences vary, and consistency can help support ongoing moisture and comfort.
Are Medicine Mama products estrogen free?
All of our products are hormone and soy free.
What causes vaginal dryness?
Vaginal dryness is something many women experience, though the reasons can vary throughout life. During menopause, lower estrogen levels affect the way vaginal tissue functions—reducing natural hydration, slowing blood flow, and gradually thinning the tissue itself. But menopause isn’t the only time dryness can appear. Shifts in hormones while breastfeeding, the use of certain medications like birth control, and lifestyle factors such as smoking can all play a role. No matter the cause, it’s a common and manageable part of women’s health.
Can I use VMAGIC® Vaginal Suppository before sex?
For best results, allow about an hour for the suppository to fully absorb, though timing may vary from woman to woman. VMAGIC® Vaginal Suppositories are designed to work gently with your body, and absorption can feel a little different for everyone. Please note: they are not compatible with natural rubber latex, polyurethane, or polyisoprene condoms.
Can I use VMAGIC® Vaginal Moisturizer if I’m currently on HRT?
Yes. VMAGIC® Vaginal Suppositories are hormone-free and safe to use alongside hormone replacement therapy (HRT). While HRT helps address systemic symptoms of menopause, our suppositories provide localized hydration with hyaluronic acid to directly soothe and moisturize vaginal tissue. Together, they can complement each other to support comfort and intimate wellness.
As always, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before beginning any new regimen to ensure it’s right for you.

I have used another brand of Vaginal Suppositories for about a year and was not really happy with it. Then i saw the Medicine Mama ad for the Vulva Balm and tried it. I loved it! I went on the Medicine Mama site and found that they offered the Vaginal Suppositories for dryness. I decided to give it a try! I not only love this brand but i also cancelled my subscription with the other company. I would recommend Medicine Mama to anyone looking for feminine products. I even took the products to my OB/GYN and showed them to her because she told me that her patients are always looking for good products that work. Medicine Mama steps up to the plate with great results!
